One day his wife went hunting and happened upon a wild hog rooting in the bushes. The hog was startled and went further into the shrubbery with Sam's wife giving chase. She saw the hog and prepared to make a shot on the run. However, her foot caught in the hole the hog had dug and she tried to stop her fall with the butt of her gun. Unfortunately, while keeping her head raised so she could keep her eyes on the hog, the jolt caused her to engage the trigger as she fell. Her head angled as it was saved her life; the bullet passed through from under her chin, passed out through her upper lip and actually made its way to the hog, giving it a fatal wound.
When rescuers found Sam's wife she'd lost a lot of blood and her mouth was in a very bad state. They noticed spattered blood on the bushes not far from her and then found the dead wild hog. Eventually, the police found Sam and, after informing him the hospital his wife was in, told him, "It seems your wife was on a wild hog chase and... well, sir... she pretty well shot her mouth to pieces and it will take some while to heal."
Sam glanced at the officer a moment and then just casually nodded.
"Sir," the officer queried, "You're taking this rather calmly, are you in shock?"
"Why should it shock me? This is the only peace and quiet I'll get. She's always going hog wild and shooting her mouth off."
