I love it, I love it, I love it.... ....!

My biggest gripe, regarding Folks trying to sound; "Very Important"....
Mostly reserved for; "Very Important Folks In Charge Of Something".

Politicians.
Police.
Firemen.
Ambulance.
Lawyers.
Council Employees.
The European Union.
Your Boss.
...etc...

Weather Man: "Precipitation is within sight"...eg: "Its going to rain any time soon!".... ...!
Police Officer: "The subject has now been declared deceased"...eg: "He's bloody dead!".... ...!

I'm amazes me, that although the audience laughs at it...they all still persist in using the awful, extra phrases at every opportunity!

And let's not forget "SYSTEM" if it's not a "SOLUTION" it's a friggin' "SYSTEM" How the hell can something be a system when it only has one part! OR - It's not a cleaning system it's a bucket and a sponge!

Another favorite of mine is "ALLEGED" The alleged murderer killed himself after shooting several classmates. If he was the only one with a gun in the place I guess he was probably the killer wasn't he?

Realtors are another group that's good at smoke and mirrors. "For Sale- A DETACHED Townhouse" If it's detached it's not a townhouse! A townhouse is one of a row of houses joined by common sidewalls.

Another Realtor marketing ploy ... The buildings where I live are called the "Terrace Condominiums". The definition of Condominium is...a multiple-unit complex, the units of which are individually owned, each owner receiving a recordable deed to the individual unit purchased, including the right to sell, mortgage, etc., Where does it say APARTMENTS FOR RENT in that definition? The correct terminology is "Terrace Apartments" but that doesn't sound nearly as classy as Condominiums does it?

Oh, and how often have you heard "...and all the carpeting has been upgraded." Upgraded from what, bare wood floors? If you got any cheaper than this stuff it would come in a Do It Yourself kit!

Well, me from Afrikaans roots, and the missus pure bred English, leads us to some "differences" of opinions sometimes.

Like, I call it a "Zink"..she insists it is a "Sink", the thing in the kitchen that you wash the dishes in.

Help me here please - Which is it then?

Hmmm. Sounds like I've lost this one. "English" is more with an "S" I'd say, whilst my pronunciation is more of a "Z" like the American pronunciation.
Either way, I won't be changing my ways though..that would be akin to admitting I'm wrong. Ain't gonna happen.

I think that the sound of words has a lot to do with the natural muscles of the face, particularly the mouth and jaw-bone!

I find that I have to contort the lower portion of my face into all sorts of unnatural shapes to mimic other accents....(Its fun!).... ...!

The spelling of the words look the same, but what the face muscles produce makes the word sound completely different!

Paul...and now for my Alabama accent....followed by my Aussie accent!...... ... ...!
