The Raise

"Excuse me, sir," the employee addressed, "may I talk to you?"
"Sure, come in... what can I do for you?"
"Well, sir," the employee replied, "I would like a raise. I have four companies after me and I decided I should speak to you first."
"A raise?" the boss responded, "This isn't really the right time. We've had quite a loss in sales."
"I know, sir, but I've always done my best and have been loyal to this company for over a decade."
"Well," the boss conceded, "considering all factors, I'm willing to give you a ten percent raise and an added 5 days vacation time."
"Thank you, sir!"
"Just out of curiousity," the boss inquired, "what companies are after you?"
"Oh," the employee informed, "the electric, gas, water and mortgage companies."
