Patient Report

"May I help you," the ward nurses' station attendant asked over the phone.
"You have a Mrs. Findley in room 302," an aged voiced inquired, "Is it possible for me to find out her condition?"
"Would you like me to transfer your call to the patient?"
"No," the woman responded, "I just want to know if she'll ever again see the light of day?"
"According to my log," the attendant replied, "it's very good news. She is scheduled for release tomorrow. Now, would you like to speak to her?"
"No," the woman said, "I'm Mrs Findlay calling from room 302 -- and no one's been telling me diddleysquat!"

P.S. Not to demean the joke, such as it is, but I once worked in a hospital and, like in many motels, room calls were identified through the switchboard (ie, the desk attendant should have already noticed where the call was placed from).
