[quote]With all due respect to all of you I can't believe you're using military analogies when comparing being a moderator of a web forum.

It's no different to being a normal member, just with a few extra buttons to push if needed.

And the members who stir it up, suggesting that if you take up an offer of moderating you'll be disliked by the rest are the only ones who create an "Us and Them" mentality.

....LOL... ;D...!

Some of the nicest, politest, intelligent Chaps* I came across in the Army were Commissioned Officers... :)...!

The worst, were Staff Sergeants/Warrant Officers....half way between the "Other Ranks" and the Commissioned Officers...

...in a confused state of equilibrium.....

...and giving everyone grief!...!... ::)...!

Paul... ;D... ;D... ;D...!

Some Warrants can be nice as can be some of the officers - Though I suppose we are generally kept away from the worse ones.

Someone wrote on Wikipedia that you should salute a warrant officer and call them Sir or Ma'am - Which as far as I know means almost certain death

Don't bet on it. I had been here less than a year and SimV was the first forum I'd ever joined. Pete just looks for certain qualities.... alcoholism, ability to take on a platoon of Paras in a bar brawl and win and a penchant for eating chilli and curry that appears to be made from a mixture of radioactive waste and napalm ;)
