..I find nothing more annoying than to see Military personnel, in Hollywood Films, saluting each other when bare-headed, ie; not wearing their Caps, etc.......!

Movie mistake (or slight incorrectness) No 3 I found in about 15 minutes :P
A la cadets we wear our berets inside the squadron building and salute... but go inside another building be it residence or even some other squadrons (yeh I don't quite get that... but we just seemed to learn the correct times to wear them)
If we don't wear our berets, we do not salute... same for the officers... no hat = no salute... so a nice little stand to attention suffices.
As for the joke... get rid of them both and put those tired legs up before going to sleep ;)
