I've always said that the Hormel Company bought the rights to produce all the American Military C-Rations of the Vietnam War. My son asked once what they tasted like and I stole a line from Crocodile Dundee, "You can survive on it, but it taste like $hit."
Yep, go to any grocery store in America and look in the Hormel section and you'll see darn near every C-Rat ever made. Then try living on it for a year. You learn an entirely new appreciation for real food.
I do still like SOS or as we fondly called it, $hit On a Shingle. Ah, cream chipped beef on toast, yep, still like it....lol. Now corn beef hash....grrr....people have been shot for less reasons.
