Gettin' the trains

Postby Peanut1234 » Wed Jul 19, 2006 9:12 pm

hey guys,

I just heard this story from my dad. A buddy he played golf with told him about his career as a Vietnam Marine fighter pilot and helicopter pilot, so here it goes.

After Vietnam, his buddy was based at Pensecola NAS in Florida. He now flew choppers. As an assignment, he was ordered to take a Sikorsky (my dad didnt verify) across the country to California. So he went off and soon enough was in the desert of Nevada. He actually flew so low, that he and the other helicopter being delivered followed a highway all the way to California. But he found some railroad tracks late at night, with a train going towards him. So he lowered the helicopter down very low to the tracks, turned on his landing lights and waved them back and forth, like a trains does. The train just slammed on the brakes, because it was like a train coming right at him!! Then he turned off his landing lights and buzzed it extremely low. ;D ;D

I thought that this was pretty funny, and I hope that you do to!! ;D ;D

Comments welcome,

High Flight Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared

Sounds more like a '..if you think thats a good story, listen to this one..' tale told at the '19th hole'.

If it did happen, don't really see the humour...

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Lol it would be quite funny to see the train driver face, even if it is a bit cruel and irresponsible.
