My name is Glen. My preferred name is Glen. I'm
finishing up my second bachelors degree, this time in
technology. I've back been in school full time for the
past two years finishing up my degrees so haven't had
time for work.
My "class environment" (what you would see) is a dungeon
cell about 26 feet below frostline level somewhere in
Greenland. The stones are rather sturdy, a combination
of sandstone and granite. I have a heavy oak cot with a
straw mattress and a single woolen blanket off in the
southmost corner of my room. It folds up against the
wall but the heavy chains on either end tend to give me
trouble so I just leave it out usually. I have a 12
inch svga monitor that still has 2 1/2 colors (the green
laser flickers). One keeper gave me this old 486
because he was tired of playing chess by himself and
decided to let me have this machine and then ran
electric and a cat5 down and through the air duct next
to the 4 inch thick wooden door so I could hook up with
him and let him beat me at chess.
I figured out how to hack his main system and was able
to set it up so I could connect to the internet while no
one was looking (which is most of the time). That's how
I managed to sign up for online classes. I've actually
seen pictures of the sunshine and sometimes, when my
decrepid monitor is having one of its good days, I
actually put a big picture of a sunny field full of
flowers and live fodder up and pretend I'm basking in
it.
On other days I act like a normal PC junkie and stay in
my dungeon playing online games in between taking
classes and tests.
Some of my favorite hobbies include taking online
classes, playing chess against partners online who know
more than my keeper, and especially creative writing,
although I'm lousy at all of it.
Hope to hear from you all frequently. It's dark down
here and lonely down here. Oops. I gotta go catch this
rat. It's almost dinner time and I need something to
spice up the gruel.
