I really don't recall this , but this is very very interesting about this tho.

Drink Pepsi and collect points to Win a Harrier Fighter Jet from Pepsi .

Winning the fighter Jet was an interesting story enough,,,,

But reading about the 21 year old Kid who actually did it was totally mind blowing and humorous as well !

No question. Advertising fraud on Pepsi's part.

Suck it up Pepsi, give him the jet.

QUESTION: Did the advertising actually SAY that it was a working jet???

A contestant on The Price is Right won an elephant.

The producers offered him $4,000 instead.

He insisted on the elephant and got it.

The (extremely detailed) Wikipedia page for the gameshow has a brilliant section where it lists some of the more outlandish prizes offered over the past six decades. The best story?
The time one Texan guy won an actual elephant. It was part of the bonus prize segment, where typically the crazier prizes are just for show, and instead the winner takes home a substitute prize. Not this guy though. The elephant was offered as a bonus prize for the contestant who had already won a grand piano. The real prize was $4,000 but the contestant really, really wanted the elephant. Eventually the show gave in, and according to the Wikipedia page, an actual, live elephant from Kenya was delivered to him. Fun fact: This incident was spoofed in an episode of The Simpsons entitled "Bart Gets an Elephant".

I recall the commercials with the Harrier and the story about the lawsuit being in the news when it wasn't delivered...

In respect to advertising, my parents (and I, in a sense), had an early relationship with a local Pepsi bottling company in Brooklyn, NY: my dad was home on leave (WWII) and, while my parents were filling out paperwork to wed, the Pepsi rep. told them they'd pay for the wedding if my parents would delay a day and allow Pepsi the rights to use the wedding in their advertising. The local Pepsi company did as they said, although my parents' marriage lasted less than 20 years...

The part that got me was when he actually convinced 5 people to loan / give him the money $700,000 Dollars !

Man, most 21 year olds can't even get someone to loan em' $50 bucks, and was able to slick talk 5 apparently very Naïve investors out of $700,000 Dollars, that's even funnier than Pepsi offering a "Mystery Fighter Jet"

Ya, I'm 21 years old and I want $700,000 dollars to buy this Fighter Jet - would you loan it to me

So, here it goes ,,, this is my pitch

I wanna buy this 1969 Boeing 747-200 Jetliner sitting up at the airport near me right now, its an old Evergreen Jet they had before filing for bankruptcy last year.

So, I'd like to buy it and have all the engines restored and landing gear restored if necessary and whatever else it needs .

So, I'm thinking around $1.75 million dollars for the whole thing, or its about to become scrap fairly soon !

OK , so who's gonna pitch in and donate some mooo'lahhhh ?? :snooty:
