This might be old news, I don't know, but I just found out about it. What is the story behind it? I take it that it works with FSX and is used as an actual training simulator? I've noticed a lot of Carenado's aircraft work with it as well now.

Prepar3d is basically FSX and moved on a bit. Any FSX addons should work in Prepar3d.
MS sold FSX to Lockheed Martin who are now developing it further ... as Prepar3d.

Oh, ok. That's kind of cool that a real aircraft manufacturer owns it now.

The only problem is they can't sell it for consumer use, only for commercial applications. Unless that changes, the majority of us will have a hard time getting it.

As provided in our End User License Agreement, the Prepar3D application is not to be used, offered, sold or distributed through markets or channels for use as a personal/consumer entertainment product.
http://www.prepar3d.com/prepar3d-license-comparison/The problem is the license they have from Microsoft for the program restricts them from selling it for entertainment, they can only sell it to people they certify are using it for educational or business purposes. Probably Microsoft's way of preventing competition with Flight or any other future Microsoft flight sim products.

But looking at the P3D promo vid, it looks exactly like FSX so I can't understand who'd want to buy it, especially as it costs a huge 199 US dollars, or have i missed something?

I wonder if Lockheed Martin have been tearing there hairs out trying to get it to run properly?

Chucked it in the bin and went back to fs2004?
Seriously, I do read that its slightly improved upon over FSX and is more stable however......? Anyone tried it?

As someone who generally purchases all the MS Flight Sims as soon as they are released.....
I am also curious if anyone has actually purchased it, and given it a really good try-out?...and their opinions of it, compared to FS 2004 and FSX..(and Flight)?
Is it really worth purchasing?
Paul...dipping hands into pocket?...

...!
P.S...its a bit of a shame that I cant pop into my local Game Shop and purchase it...like the other Flight Sims...

....!

Well that is good news. I was always hoping LM would find some way to get it out there. Can you give us a review?

A review with some photos maybe? Haha, hopefully the flight characteristics have gotten even more realistic, and the visuals.
