Say it ain't so.

It WILL be the Elizabeth Tower: MPs support renaming the tower housing Big Ben after the Queen

The tower housing Big Ben will be renamed in honour of the Queen under plans supported by the majority of MPs.

David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband are among senior figures from all parties who have backed the proposal to call it the Elizabeth Tower. A total of 331 MPs have now signed up to the campaign.

It mirrors a tribute bestowed on Queen Victoria, the only other monarch in British history to have a Diamond Jubilee ...

They tried something like this in the states a few years ago.

Hmm, April has been and gone.

It's a stupid proposal. I could possibly understand a temporary change for the jubilee (as in, they change it back the day after) but really, just no. This can't be genuine. Nobody would call it that anyway... It is clearly Big Ben  ;D

Big Ben will still be Big Ben, as it refers to the Bell. The tower is called a couple of things but true name is Clock Tower.

Indeed. This is Big Ben.

At 9'-0" diameter, 7'-6" high, and weighing in at 13 tons 10 cwts 3 qtrs 15lbs (13,760 Kg), the hour bell of the Great Clock of Westminster - known worldwide as 'Big Ben' - is the most famous bell ever cast at Whitechapel.
