Los Angeles is pronounced El Ay. ;)

Not a city, but Arkansas (Ar-can-saw) always confused me.
From the Mexican, Los Angeles should be 'los an-jhel-es'... (The Angels), but Los An-gee-lees is my personal pronunciation.
Of course, most spellings have been skewed by the horrificness that is American-English. I just refer to it as 'American' as I don't want to put my language to its name

I think a lot of confusion is due to the appearance of the Spanish/South Americans in California and the surrounding areas, and naming various locations with their own pronunciations, and then the later visitors Anglicising the names...

There's aso La Jolla, CA (La Hoya)
That one always got me when I lived in San Diego.
