I do believe, but why are the pictures such a crap quality. Satellites that Google Earth used from 150miles up show the BBQ on my deck as plain as day. These are taken from 13 miles and still don't show much more that some out of focus pixels :-? :-?

The close-up images on Google Earth are taken by aeroplanes that fly over and take the pictures. They're only a few thousand feet high. As far as I know, the satellite images themselves are only good enough to resolve a 1-meter-square patch of earth, on Earth, to one pixel.

...and there's silly old me thinking that the Pics were taken with a Pentax Sureshot camera plugged into the end of a powerful Earth-based telescope!

"Space" is still a big mystery to me...

You are correct, the higher resolution aerial images you see today, including most on Google Earth, are taken from aircraft, usually under 10,000 feet. 

A friend of mine is an avid conspiracy theorist, you name the conspiracy, he probably believes it or at least some form of it. When I showed him these pics he finally conceded that man "probably" did land on the moon.

Conspirers are everywhere. Moon landings could not have been faked, in my humble opinion. If you lived through the cold war era, you should understand the chest bumping between the East and West and the constant monitoring of each others activities. Just saying..

A lot of the accusations were about the levels of technology available at the time. Sure, the rockets had as much memory as a desk calculator, but if you're using a fairly simple system (compared to modern rockets and shuttles) then it was enough.

Don't get me wrong, going to the moon was hard, but it wasn't that hard. Propulsion, aerodynamics, controls, oxygen, living quarters and a pod with reverse thrust. The difficulty was doing it for the first time, and they had enough casualties and failures to get to where they are now.
