Pen-Pals?

In my youth this was a very common thing and with my extensive travels as a kid I had pen-pals all over the Globe.
My daughter's school have just twinned up with a school in Zambia and she now has a pen-pal.
Anyone else do this or is involved with this sort of mischief? I used to love writing to all my friends but damn the net makes things a LOT easier to stay in touch ;)

Unfortunately not, as the PC brigade would probably would like to replace the word "pen-pal" with "grooming"

Tis tragic the world we live in. My daughter and I spent a good hour on google maps looking at pictures of her pen-pals school and the nearby game reserve. She is now writing a massive letter back ;D
Personally I'm all in favour of this sort of thing when organised by schools, it teaches kids a lot about different cultures and ways of life. Probably a hang-up from my youth and living abroad so much ;D ;D ;D

I used to do this at school as well.
But without a doubt the internet has made it very much a specialised thing these days. What's a pen??  :o

What's a pen??

I know the answer to this one! Tis a strange tube like device for making symbols on a piece of reprocessed tree!
I saw one in the Science Museum a while back and took a photo of it ;D ;D ;D

I seem to recall they used the primitive stuff called ink? A sort of yukky liquid and that these pen things had an annoying habit of wetting themselves whenever you put them in a pocket of a nice clean white shirt....

I've heard there was also a similar pen with a non-liquid marking substance which was evidenty, unofficially, used by youngsters practicing graffiti on window framework -- a pen sill; evidently, it was officially, or originally, used for statistical displays because it consisted of a graph site core. Of course, I was a young child when I was told about this so it may not be entirely accurate.

Yeah. I used to recall the old times when I write letters to my friends. Now, we just search the net and chat with my friends. Its something to remember that there are wide changes now. :)

You mean people make friends with pens?

I never had one, and I think it's rare for anyone to do it anymore. People have lost their common sense, no longer have a backbone to try and support it, and all strangers are paedos

Hyperpep, you've only been here a short while but your postings are starting to become obnoxious and I'm getting complaints about them.
Might I suggest winding your neck in a little bit? It is in your own best interests...
You don't know me, you've never spoken to me and you feel you can be rude to me? You're setting yourself up for a BIG fall. And believe me you're not the only person being monitored for this kind of unpleasant behaviour >:(
