Or what used to be the cafe and is now the pilots lounge is lacking some good food posts....

So today I made some tasty supper consisting of homemade sourdough bread to go along with some italian sausage....browned up the sausage, diced a green pepper as well as an onion and dropped all in the crockpot with a dusting of salt/pepper/garlic powder and the likes....

6 hours later a delicious dinner was served :)

Oh boy... my only cooking device here is a stupid microwave oven.

I really miss good fresh-made food.

Since Fozzer's departure, the food content has somewhat slipped. It would appear that the only food related subjects involve....

I've never used a microwave oven to cook any food... I wouldn't know how to turn it on, nor how long to turn it on for. I barely know how to use a toaster either... It is all about cooking with the grill, oven and hobs  ;D

[color=#003300]Jared, hot or sweet Italian sausage?

As to the microwave, much of my cooking has been by ~wave, the radar in a box -- I was a USAF radar operator/repairman. Most things cook faster but don't brown without a standard overhead heat element (mine does). In a 1KW ~wave, small cakes or biscuits, from your own batter, are done in about 1

I'm pretty much relegated to prepackaged, frozen, microwave meals. But, I like to 'doctor' stuff. For example, I add butter, chopped sweet onions, garlic powder, and Louisiana hot sauce in a couple of Marie Callender

meals. Sometimes I will add various cheeses for the last two minutes. I also use a lot of salsa, even in my Quaker Oats red eye gravy grits. Don't knock it 'til ya try it.

One of my favorite blue collar meals is meatloaf with baked beans, sweetcorn and a baked potato with sour cream. She can dress me up and put me in a 5 star restaurant and I'll always ask the waiter "how's the meatloaf here?"

The best "poor mans food" I've ever come up with is this:

cook some ramen noodles without the flavor packet.
Drain most of the water.
Place the noodles in a wok or teflon skillet.
Add frozen vegetables of your choice.
(there are many stir fry assortments available, but use whatever you like)
Then add the ramen flavor packet.
Stir fry until the veggies are done, add water if necessary to keep the noodles from burning. When it's done, everything should have a kind of glaze from the noodles and the flavor packet stuff.

Good food! and you can throw in some cooked chicken or beef or whatever if you want to get fancy with it. Best of all, it's a very cheap meal. ;)

[font=Comic Sans MS][color=#0000ff]Right after you drain the water from the noodles, add an egg and let the heat from the noodles cook the egg...stir...continue...yum!
