Ever seen the movie 'The Core'? Hope it is not the same cause. But the last thing I read about it said the birds had blunt trauma, which suggests hail. Don't know about the fish, but the article said it was common.

I heard a vetranarian interviewed say of the 17 birds he examined, "all showed signs of internal bleeding."
Now if your following my thoughts.. :-? , this usually happens when one "drops out of the sky". 8-)
