There must be an innocent explanation, but I'll be buggered if I can think of one
Why would you want to sit naked in the boot of your car in full view of the public is beyond me and I have been living amongst these weird Europeans for many years now

Maybe he's checking to see if it's 'squeaky clean' ?

The boring logical explanation is that the chap was wearing shorts. Don't ask me to explain what he's doing in the boot.

I'm guessing this is somewhere in Germany. They seem to be almost as obsessed with being naked as the Scandinavians.... used to cause a lot of issues in Communist times. The Soviets used to go mental about nude sunbathers near their bases as of course being in the buff meant you didn't have ID on you (well not the sort they demanded) and this went terribly against what the Communist system demanded, some people have no sense of humour

I used to work with a couple of ex-Brixmis boys and they told me some hysterical stories about dodging Soviet trailers and driving through woods in the Range Rovers and frightening sun bathers au natural One of the guys had a remarkable collection of photographs of nude lady E.German sunbathers

Doing mechanical work in the buff? 

I once threatened to do that as a protest back in trade-school. There was some flap about school uniforms and covering them with jackets... working nude was my answer. Fortunately the class, instructors and neighbors of the school vehemently objected.
