While working on the new SimV wiki, I typed "canceling." I used one "L" before the "ing." Someone tells me it uses two Ls. After googling it, and looking in the dictionary, it appears that it can be spelled both ways.

What's your opinion on this, and how do you spell "canceling"?

Depends if you use the British or American spelling. Canceling with one L is American.

Firefox spell checker says that two Ls are wrong. 

I tend to trust my spellchecker over just about every other resource on spelling.

Wiktionary  says it depends on where you live:

American Firefox spellchecker is OK with either formation of 'spellchecker' but the British one isn't.

Odd bit of kit these spellcheckers are.

Cancel.. In its singular form.
Canceling.. This does look incomplete, but, it saves ink!
Cancelling.. Well lets review council,.. school.. rule.. tool.. add an i-n-g, you see?

I'm guessing people use 'a', as you're 'able' to collect things. Though I would use 'ible'.

With me it's all a matter of pronunciation. Collectable sounds right. Note that it can be used as a noun or verb adjective. Again it depends on where you live. This is what Wikipedia says about it.

Although "collectable" is the spelling listed first for the adjective by the Oxford English Dictionary and is standard spelling in British English, the dictionary observes that the "-ible" form is also valid, and has come to be common spelling in the United States.

PS. Words like canceling, modeling, traveling etc. always look wrong to me. With a single L following an E the logical pronunciation would be canceeling, modeeling, traveeling etc.
