I was at the checkout counter in a store and the cashier was talking so I kept answering her. I suddenly realized the Twit was talking on her hands free earpiece. Very annoying!  :-[

People talk on planes... People talk on phones. So long as they mind their volume nothing will be different.

I get a bit paranoid about what is going on in the world around me, especially on 12 hour flights, so it would be nice to stay in touch with people back home. I probably wouldn't phone anyone unless I had to, but an internet connection or something would be nice. I really hate leaving my friends or family on the ground where anything could happen to them... So a status check or a message every so often would be nice on a long flight.

You'd kill someone who cares for their friends and thinks they mean the world to him and would occasionally check up on them? Go right ahead if that's what you think's best.

Are you like me as well, who hates not knowing what the latest news around the world is whenever you go away from home? ;D

I'm sure your friends can cope perfectly well without you checking on them for a few hours. If they happen to be in trouble there's not much you could do about it anyway. You could hardly get the pilot to turn round & go back.

I must be peculiar. When I go away on holiday I like to get away from it all. That means no newspapers, no TV & no bloomin' phone. ;)

You'll be the first to know when I have a bad day. In fact I got a job today, so no, it has been a rather good day. But that doesn't change the fact that I care more for the people back home than the people around me on a plane (who I may annoy for a matter of minutes in total on a long flight). Really, what is the concern they'd have with me going on the internet on a plane for 5-10 minutes then putting on a movie? They're probably asleep or watching something themselves.

Even if I can't get back home to them, that doesn't mean they're not a part of my life any more and if something happened I would want to be able to talk to them. It has happened before, so I'll continue to take good care of them.

[quote]But between owning everything I currently have and selling it to afford a plane ticket back to see my friends, I'd happily do without any luxuries because my friends are far more important. Maybe some other people don't realise the importance of such people

Do it in international airspace. You might get away with it...

I'm trying to figure out what sort of friends you have that are likely to get into serious trouble as soon as your back's turned. :-/

I have a daughter, son-in-law & 2 beautiful granddaughters who mean the world to me, more than life itself. They don't want me constantly checking up on them, any more than I want them checking up on me. If they or I go away we say cheerio, back in a week, fortnight, month or whatever. I know they will find a way to contact me if they really need me. Same goes for my friends. ;)

The unpredictable can always happen. They're safe people but if anything bad were to happen, I'd do what I could to get to them. They never look for trouble, but life happens. I rely on them and they rely on me.
