That is an incredible story, and most have been a rather tearful experience for the grandson.  :)

The thing that struck me was the beautiful handwriting. I wonder how many people could write like that today.

Today...hmm....no one I know of... :-/

Now my grandmother that was born in 1911 had incredible handwriting. She died in 2000.

My mom has nice handwriting. But it's not to the level that her mom's was. She was born in 1934.

Now mine....lmao.....it's so bad I can't read it sometimes. I have so much pain in my hands it's all I can do to hold a normal telephone, let alone a pen. So writing is extremely difficult. Even then, it's block letters, always has been.  :-[

Reading that story gave me goosebumps. It's as if the man from the war wanted to talk to his grandson one last time. A great story...
