Help needed

I have a dear friend who was a top air traffic controller who taught many others and was a wonderful private pilot and mechanic . He was recently admitted to a full care facility with that absolutely awful Alzheimer's disease .  I made a short IFR flight in FS2004 yesterday in my favorite America West Boeing 737 from DFW to Ft. Worth Meacham field and was thinking how wonderful it would be to have that flight on a DVD that he could watch and listen to ATC which
" might " bring back some pleasant memories of the times he loved .  Might even be better in Geof's great B33 Debonair as he owns a Bonanza .

Just wonder if anybody has the capabilty of producing a high quality ( with sound )  DVD that I could purchase ?  I am sure he can no longer operate flight sim , but could watch on a DVD player and might mean something to him .

Thanks ,

Jamie

Though I can't help directly (I don't have FS2004 and my FSX and scren recording facilities aren't amazing) I would like to praise you for doing this. I know how Alzheimer's can be as I have a family member with it, but I wish you all the best with it.

One possibility of doing yourself would be with a screen capture tool such as Fraps (payware) or CamStudio (freeware). I have had some issues with using CamStudio to get sound working. On my computer I took the approach to record sound by getting a connector (a regular male to male sound cable) going from the speaker output to the microphone input and using Audacity to record sound.

To compile the video, you'd need to use a video editor. Windows Movie Maker (or Windows Live Movie Maker, which is a bit better) should be available on your computer already. I believe there is a DVD output selection so that you can make it onto a DVD. You may need to burn the DVD yourself. I'm unsure which software you'd need for this as I have not done it in a long while.

I hope this helps.

Hello Machineman9 ,

It all gets a bit complicated and I am beginning to think I was born with Alzheimer's !!  I do have Audacity and gave it a thought .  That is a wonderful recorder/editor .  This is not a big deal , but you can see what I did with Audacity and would seem it could be helpful with this other project .

Thanks for the response ,

Knowing Alzheimer's well,  I feel your pain.  I have lots of HD stuff that could help.  I'm not sure about being able to make full 1080p stuff but I have sound editors, video editors/recorders that can get 720. :)
