Carrier Ops

Hi All,

In the olden days, I spent a lot of time playing CFS1, watching people trying to land anything and everything on the Ark Royal, and providing some comic relief with my lack of piloting skill.

After some years, I decided I would like to get back into the sim world and purchased CFS3 and FSX thinking I would be able to continue the entertainment.  But where are the multiplayer carriers???

Yeah, I tried Nimitz, but without any other like minded friends, it simply doesn't work online, because you just end up being an "observer" as it's hard to schedule a group of players to play a "mission".

So my question is... what software or sim, is everyone using to get good aircraft carrier entertainment these days?

Cheers,
Dave

... well, I have put together a 'Carrier Operations 2006' Package that does work in FSX if you would like it.   it is the same package that is for 2004, but it does work in X.   None of the ships are Pilotable, they are all static, and you will need ARRCAB2.6 (comes with package) to be able to land **FS9** craft on the deck.

they may be a very small handful of TRUE FSX Carriers, but this package will add 18 carriers around the world.

if you want it, let me know and give me your email.

Or you can get acceleration and the AI Carriers 2 package. http://www.simviation.com/simviation/st ... =200&page=

Thanks for your replies.  I suppose I'm looking for a carrier sim that is used widely enough that I'm not the only one flying it!  It's just no fun if you don't get to watch others make a hash of their landings after demonstrating your own failures.

I guess I must be missing the point of FSX.  Other than the realism aspects, I'm not quite sure where simmers are getting their kicks in the latest version, but that might be because I spent too long playing combat versions where you could easily measure your skills.

Have you tried any of the missions? Also, if you get the Acceleration package, you can do carrier ops with people online in the multiplayer section.

Yeah, I bought the Accereration pack that included the deluxe(?) version too.  The problem with Gamespy is that only a couple of people try the carrier mission, and when they do, nobody waits long enough for other parties to join, meaning that you can only choose the role of "observer" instead of "pilot".  I personally think it's a major flaw to what could have been a fantastic package out of the box.
