I stayed up at 1am to watch Tiger play his first round. He shot bad on a perfect day. :( Then the 2nd day he didn't have the weather on his side so he cant rebound if there's bad conditions. I saw his highlights today of the second round...
Im so dissapointed he got cut... :-/
I picked him on my fantasy golf team this week

....
On the bright side im glad to see Watson is leading, I just bought his 2009 wedge set in April

The oldest person to have won a major golf tournament is Julius Boros, who won the 1968 PGA Championship at the age of 48.
Tom Watson is 59. He has won the Open 5 times, once at Turnberry in 1977.
First prize in 1977 was

Past winners (John Daly, David Duval) get an exemption until they are 60.
That seems to be the exemption Watson is currently enjoying. I don't know whether that would get him in next year or not.
If he wins, however, he would get another 10 year exemption.
And there may be some other available exemption, like top 10 on the Champions Tour.
Exemptions are so complicated I just wait until the tournament starts to see who's playing.

Well that will be nice although idk if he will play another 10 years but its golf so...
http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/blog/devil ... olf,177285There's the article...
I just dont want to see him mess up, just hoping he wont choke like Alex Cejka did at the Player's Championship this year or how Kenny Perry choked on the last 2 holes to force playoff and lose the Masters...
Really I would only want him to choke/lose if Tiger was in the lineup and in contention of winning...
Hope he got some good rest over there and will come in today nice and smooth.

Talk about a nail biter!
It was a 3 way tie for a moment, but Tom now leads by one shot with one hole left.
Go Tom!

According to
this page a winner still gets a 10 year exemption regardless of age.
"4. The Open Champions for 1999-2008."
Enjoy the playoff!

They were just talking about Tom Watson and he told the announcers he is going to retire after this year or maybe even tonight?

So I guess he wont be worrying about having 10 more years.
Both have good teeshots in the fairway. 8-)

Tom Watson played 71 good holes of golf, 17 of them today.
He seemed to collapse at 18 and didn't have the stamina for another 4 playoff holes.
At the press conference he said, "The old fogey almost did it."
