Semi related: I heard someone got traced down by a rampant ex-husband because they saw their ex-wife on Google Earth through Street View and found out where they lived. Not sure on the trustworthyness of that, but it still makes you wonder just how exposed things like this can make you  :-[

Those cars have been spotted in my local area recently. Photos of them have been printed in the local newspapers. Some people aren't very happy about it.  http://www.worthingherald.co.uk/worthing/Google-Street-View-cars-spotted.5103916.jp

I would take that with a large pinch of salt. Street View is supposed to automatically blur people's faces & car registration plates. Try it for yourself.

I suppose you could still identify someone by their clothing if you knew where to look for them. A man coming out of a sex shop apparently asked to have his image removed.

Again, I'm not sure on how trustworthy the source is... Seems a bit too fortunate that of all the places in the world this person was able to find one of several million. Good thing nobody wants to come to this town haha. No being plastered on the web for me  ;D

I feel the same way about photographing a Google imaging car as I do about Google posting street views:

If you're in public, you are fair game for photographers, regardless of the purpose of the photograph.  Period. How can you demand "privacy" when you are in a public place?

If you want privacy in public, wear a sheet over your head when you go out.  ;D
