That's taking it a little too far, but on the other hand, we also need to realize that we're always taking a risk when uploading something to the internet.

This is the part that's getting a lot of people up in arms...

Submissions

You acknowledge and agree that any questions, comments, suggestions, ideas, feedback or other information that you provide to Facebook ("Submissions"), are non-confidential and non-proprietary. Facebook will be entitled to the unrestricted use of any such Submission for any purpose, commercial or otherwise, without acknowledgment or compensation to you.

Kind of ridiculous, sure. But hell, if you post anything anywhere on the internet, the same thing will happen. Be it your artwork, or the photo you doing a kegstand while taking a hit off a blunt while doing a line of coke. The simple solution for anyone is to not post anything you don't want an employer, future employer, school, girlfriend, boyfriend, mother, father, aunt or parakeet to see. Same thing goes if you don't want someone taking credit for the photo you took of a sunset with a crappy point and shoot camera.

Other than that, it's just the same old standard terms of use and privacy policy that no one bothers to read anyway...

The reason why I treat Facebook, etc, similar to contracting a fatal Black Death infection!

...and we should always be aware that anything and everything we have ever Posted on any Forum, etc, can be located by anyone and everyone, using a Search engine...;)..!

NOTHING is private and secure on the internet!... :o...!

Paul...this message will self-destruct in 5 seconds...(in my dreams!)... ;)...!

Well enough people complained and they pulled the new terms of use and are revising it.

Now we should hopefully get a much better version!

I joined Facebook on Jan. 16th 2009 and I'm already seriously considering deactivating my account. They can have what little activity it has had in the month and two days it has been there.

Frankly, I have little interest in Facebook and all the hassles associated with it make it not worth the trouble of keeping up with it.

The most annoy part for me is that darn security every time you add something. I don't have a "texting" cell phone...... >:(

Here is a thought........................How do you think the media gets pictures of accused/dead/killed etc people before they are released by the police....The same people who own this sort of site also own the media outlets, Myspace and Murdock for example. When you read the small print, it means that if they wish to, for what ever reason if you become the news, your secure site that only you and a few trusted friends have access to becomes and open book for any media outlet with a business connection to that site. Your secrets, your pictures, anything that is posted is now fair game.
And Rom deleting your account..........it is all still there, you just can't see it anymore.

Yes, I know, All they would get is a couple birthday wishes. Me fussing about the stupidity of Facebook policies and telling people that if my account gets hacked that I would never ask anyone on-line for money.

So the dirt they could dish on me would be quite minimal..... ;)

Some how, with all the BS that goes along with "the privilege" ( ::) ) of having a Facebook account. I do believe I will just forget about the account and let it just hang there in digital oblivion and burn up space (however small) on Facebooks server.

Apparently anyone who heard about this gave Facebook a piece of their mind (and so did I) and after being threatened to be thrown in court by a few other companies, they switched back. Good news. :)

PS. Fozzer, you're not missing out on anything. ;D More frustration than anything but keeps the blood flowing. ::)

;D ;D

What gets me is the fact this has ALWAYS been their policy, yet it takes a news article years after the fact for people to realize the policy exists. Are people illiterate or just stupid?

I thought every one left Face book for MySpace? Why the comeback?
