Well, I have to say I am surprised that this has not happened before. Especially then you take this picture into account released last year.

...and you thought Traffic congestion was bad enough on the Los Angeles Freeway!... :o...!

How the Space Shuttle negotiates its way safely through that lot, on its way to the Space Station, is beyond me!

So much Space Junk!

Paul... ;D...!

Well I guess this answers the question, if two satellites collide in space, will you hear it?

You beat me to posting that picture. I saw it on the nasa homepage about 10 minutes ago. I was trying to think of something better they could do with all the spent rocket bodies, staging skirts, fairings, dead satelites. Well, I couldn't think of thing except to crash them into the ocean like Skylab did. The things up there already don't have the ability though.

Hehe, I said the same ting last night. Now for the next question: Who was driving? ;D

On a more serious note, what was the monetary loss in all this? I read where niether satellite were exactly new, one having been put up in 1993 and the other in 1997.

Sorry Matt, I just saw your post stating basically the same thing.

The amount of junk and debris mankind has put into orbit is just ridiculous. Soon space will become polluted. :o
