Aviation history footage?

Postby Anxyous » Wed Jan 07, 2009 9:32 am

I wasn't sure whether to post this here, or in one of the aviation forums, but I'll let the mods judge.

Our class is doing a project next week, with the subject "Evolution" (not necessarily as in monkeys evolving to humans, just things evolving), and I'm doing the evolution of aviation.

I wanna make a small movie, walking through some major events in aviation history, so I need lots of pictures and footage for that.

Does anyone know a could place for that?

A jar of cookies for anyone who can help :)

Not sure about videos, but you can find pictures of just about anything relating to aviation on the internet

Youtube. You need a file type converter to put it in a video though. I had one, don't know what it is anymore. Search google for the converter.

I know several, but the movie will be projected onto one of those... well, white things you can get for projectors :P

So YouTube quality isn't really good enough...

Thanks though :)

NASA has a history section online, where you can get some of the more recent stuff. Pics and short vids from the Apollo program.

Try some museum sites first.
Or googling the specific item from history you are searching for.

I don't know how quick of a response you would get, but you could try emailing the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum folks for suggestions and/or pics and clips. Their archivists are always really helpful, and I'm sure if the response time was quick, you could get some good use out of their services.

I see you already have your subject but if you would like to give this video to someone who in your class who is actually doing the "evolution" you could give them this.

And everyone should watch it because it is a really interesting vid.

Thanks for the help guys, vid is done, turned out nice! :)

And thanks for the link T1MT1M, there actually are two working on evolution, but I think, I'd be the only one to understand all that in my class (Denmark here).
