Color Warning Update-Green
Green=Okay
Yellow=Worried
Red=Very worried/most likely explode

Well ive been looking around and heard about how yellowstone has had many earthquakes since December and they list up to 500 earthquakes and some people are saying its going to blow but most/every scientist is unsure. Anyone else here about this? Im not very worried because this is something the earth does although I wouldent want this to happen because I can only imagine how horrible it would be and what the world would be like if a supervolcano exploded and took out half the United States.

Anyone has any thoughts on this, I just took Earth Science but never got to learn about Yellowstone that much we were sapose to watch a video by discovery channel if anyone has seen that before called supervolcano but this volcano eruption could be like no other!

If you look at the link below the first one gives the series of earthquakes and below that shows where the ash will most likely spread. Also under that is an updated report on how yellowstone is doing.

I belived this was going to happen about yellowstone but I had never thought it might even be now. I though hundreds and hundreds of years from now it will although noone can predict whats happening but these earthquakes sure are something that is probally getting an eye on scientists!
Although im not so sure if its really popular around the US because not alot of people are talking about it... most likely because there are better things to worry about? I think noone can really do anything about it and noone can predict when its going to happen but I hope noone is living near yellowstone.

I've seen the super volcano programme that you refer to ...... and it's a scary prospect .... having said that so is the chance of a large asteroid smashing into the earth .... or

 I sincerely believe most of those specials on Discovery channel are only proof positive that in the wrong hands, or brains, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. ;D

Well, the entire park sits inside an enormous dormant caldera... if it were to blow all at once, it would probably be as disastrous as predicted.  :-/
But no sense worrying about it- there's even less we could do to stop it than a large asteroid impact.  :)

Yep and they predict an astroid to hit earth in a few years. Well that what I heard on the news a few months ago.

Im not worried about it at all just thinking of what the impact would be of something like that is just horrific.
I think when its your time to go its your time to go.
Although alot of people have been saying 2012 is when we are all going to die? ::)
Not sure why 2012..? :-?

 Becuase 2012 is where those lazy Mayans stopped counting, although I doubt they ever heard of the Gregorian calendar or even B.C./A.D. so the actual number was probaly quite a bit larger.  :D

I think you should change #2 to "believing everything you see on the Discovery Channel".

Yeah I think that it is quite interesting that something that small well its not that small but for its impact it is a small place.

Im just starting to watch the supervolcano movie on youtube  ;D.
Its just wierd how they have like 6 earthquakes in one day in the same spot...
Thats what im like "what the heck?"
Does anyone else think it would be wierd if you were like watching it and like back to back earthquakes were going? I mean discovery channel scientists also say they think it might not blow for thosands and hundreds of years from now but looking how big the impacts are its just like how? Wow wouldent that be amazing flying next to it when it blew.  ;D
:P Of course not when your engine might stop if the ash reaches you.

If it goes off like the last erruption that took place there, and, every mind in the businees agrees there is at least one more blast left in it.. you wont have to worry about your car or mortgage loans after

If you are one of the lucky ones and live in north america within 1000 miles it will be lights out pretty fast

Although Apophis in 2036 @ 880 megatons would probably do the nasty too.

The end of the world is coming... and when it does, nature will start over as it has many times in the course of our natural history.. its just the way it is and if anyone thinks otherwise, they are blind and deaf to the real world and how it works

more than likely we have a more time than all this would suggest, however the creatures of the past that dominated this planet did not destroy it and its natural abilities to recover after such a natural disaster. Its one thing to damage the planet and figure it out very late and let it recover, if possible.. its another to damage the planet to the point where something that happens on this world in geological terms, all the time.. may not allow such a recovery

In that, humans with our brains have done more damage to this planet in less than a blink of an eye in geo terms.. more damage than a billion years of other species never even scratched the surface on and unless we get off this rock and start raping another world, we wont be here much longer in geo terms.

Yes, we are all going to die.. and more than likely the bee's or another colony species will take over, and the process will start all over again.

Thats life.. we are just part of that cycle and we will go away if we remain on this planet just like the dinosaurs , no difference.

tick-tock-tick-tock

and thats no bull

Very very good point nick! Of course I live in the Bay Area of California so im most likely not going to live and I dont have to worry about loans because im not even old enough...yet.. ;D

But what is the Apophis in 2036? I havent heard of that one yet?

Although there also is global warming which might take effect in a long time from now but im not really worried about that because I think by the time it does become a problem well a big problem other stuff will be happening with the world that is more disatorious like this.
