I see a slight problem here... the same one with serving legal documents through e-mail.

There is absolutely no way to verify that the owner of the account (email or facebook) is the person whom the court is attempting to contact. Facebook does not require any identification to make an account, therefore, anyone can make an account in anyone else's name.
