After reading the Photo section guidelines, I guess this will go here, as I didn't take this one, it came in my email today. ;)

I have never seen or heard of this and thought I would share it:

"Quote from the email:"
THIS IS A FIRE RAINBOW - THE RAREST OF ALL NATURALLY OCCURRING ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA.

THE PICTURE WAS CAPTURED THIS WEEK ON THE IDAHO / WASHINGTON BORDER. THE EVENT LASTED ABOUT 1 HOUR..

CLOUDS HAVE TO BE CIRRUS, AT LEAST 20K FEET IN THE AIR, WITH JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF ICE CRYSTALS AND THE SUN HAS TO HIT THE CLOUDS AT PRECISELY 58 DEGREES.

(not sure what the white line is, maybe a contrail, or scratch? :-?)

Well, the good news is, the e-mail and photo pass the snopes.com test as being "True" - http://www.snopes.com/photos/natural/firerainbow.asp

The real atmospheric phenomenon is known as circumhorizontal arc-

A forwarded email written entirely in caps is a good indication... :)

Nope, I just get so many BS e-mails, I've started checking everyone that makes any claims. I don't like forwarding anything and looking like a fool when it turns out the e-mail was a hoax.

Even that one you got has been circulating since what was it, 2006?  ;)

Normally I just delete all emails that I don't recognize, but the title on this one just begged to be opened. ;) I've only hhad the internet for about 6 months now so I'm a little late in getting it! ;D

EDIT: this was meant as a joke:(Are you doubting the validity of a randomly sent email!? ) ;) ;D

That sounds more like a medical procedure and one that should make the eyes water too ;D

Circumhorizontal arc? Medical operation? Halo?

If this indicates what I think, I've known quite a few with their heads stuck where they'd need this hopefully successful operation...

Circumstantial evidence dictates that any operation involving an incision in a circumferential direction subjects the average Male to a considerable amount of pain and discomfort in the lower frontal region.

...trust me... :o...!

F....and I'm not a Jew...;)... ;)... ;)...!

...and its got nothing to do with the delights of watching Rainbows...Trust me... :'(...!

Since I happen to live in this area, I would really be curious to know exactly where it occured, as I don't remember it happening or hearing anything about it in June '06
