I posted this because it is almost funny for it's comments about a couple of countries. I thought Alrot would get a kick out of it particularly. Seems ole OPEC has been Neutered....lmao

Saudi Arabia walked out on OPEC yesterday. It said it would not honor the cartel's production cut. It was tired of rants from Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and the well-dressed oil minister from Iran.

As the world's largest crude exporter, the kingdom in the desert took its ball and went home.

As the Saudis left the building the message was shockingly clear. According to The New York Times,

I know you dislike him intensely Alex. That's why I thought you'd get a laugh out of the Saudis walking out on him and his ranting. They basically told him to kiss their butts in front of all the OPEC nations along with the Iranian.

By doing this it brings hope that these tactics of using oil as a leverage point to force your will are at an end. So Chavez just lost allot of his ability to push other countries around.

I thought this would be good news to most of the world, I didn't intend this to go political....looks like this may need to be locked?  :-/

Alex

I......and I'm sure just about everyone here respects you for who you are and what you are.

The behaviour of your countries leaders has nothing to do with it.

We are all individuals and where we live should not change that.

It is wrong to judge people on anything other than their own merits.

You speak your own mind and that sets you above many people who follow like sheep.

People who look can see that clearly

People who don't look and can't see that are not worth bothering about.

Garry

No problem Alex, I know of another country that has a leader that isn't very popular with the mass's either and that country is looking to replace him soon. Hopefully with a better person. Then there was another country not long ago also had a leader that was disliked by most and he was replaced.

Hopefully, your country will be able to replace your problem leader soon. He made a major blunder with OPEC and has lost all his power to bully anyone. So now he pretty much is in a position where he must start cooperating with the other nations or get left out in the cold.

I can say w/o any hesitation that I have NEVER thought any less of you because of where you live.

Just like to point out that ordinary people are not responsible for what their country's leaders get up to. I didn't vote for them & often cringe with embarrassment over what our stupid government does in my name. The main difference is that I'm allowed to say so. Not on this forum of course. ;)

Wow, I agree with that 100%, don't dare say to much about the US's current fearless leader w/o fear of this going to political. Let's just hope the next one is better..... :-/

That is so true, and the problem is, that when it is reported by the news of other countries or by political figures of other countries, it becomes, the "British", the "Americans", the Venezuelan's", us in other words, when in fact it is "An Englishman" (well Scott), an "American", a "Venezuelan" for example. Politicians have a lot to answer, but that is generally below them once they are in a position of power. Countries for example don't go to war with each other, politicians create the tensions that end in war.......and we vote these Muppets in ::)

When I come to power...I just have to start mass-murders of the stupid by putting them in a room full of products without warning labels... ;D

So in essence does that mean that Saudi Arabia leaving means that the future-defunct OPEC will no longer choke the market to jack up oil prices? Are they essentially lending a helping hand by doing this?
