Some how reading about it just doesn't interest me.  :-/

I'm not trying to be a smartass. I guess it's the same thing as reading a book after seeing the movie..... :-/

BTW, As badly as Blacks have been treated in the US. They were treated far worse by the VC/NVA. Even the horror stories from the old south and the KKK can't compare to what went on in Nam.

Personally I find veitnam stories facinating, but again I didn't have to live through it so I imagine it's much different for other people.  Jungle warfare just has a certain feeling to it that the desert doesn't offer.    

My favorite Veitnam book so far is Marine Sniper, it's about Carlos Hathcock, a Gunnery Sergeant that had the most kills in veitnam single handedly and also set numerous other shooting records.  An excellent story, very detailed and keeps you in the action.

My favorite book about Vietnam was "Low, Level, Hell" by Hugh L. Mills, Jr.

Great book about the story of his experience as an aeroscout pilot, very good read.

Try, "A Slow Walk in Sad Rain", it is one of those books I read every couple of years or so, it is the Vietnam Catch 22. It is poignant and darkly comic. It is by John P. McAfee, former Special Forces officer and combat veteran, based on the author's own experiences as a combat Green Beret.

I was being facetious, I don't think their is anyone in the military that has anything to do with sniping that doesn't know Maj. Plaster. He is darn near a legend in the Sniper community in his own right.

I see he received a field commission, starting out in the enlisted ranks. Not often that you read about field promotions
