Not just that, if as predicted it hits the area of the Gulf oil production platforms, then you $4 a gallon and our $9 a gallon may in the coming days/weeks seem a bit of a bargin :-/

Then there's hurricane "Hanna" that will hit the east coat. It looks to hit around the Georgia - Florida boarder and after last weeks flooding the next week or so is going to be interesting for the southern US from Texas clear to the Atlantic seaboard..

Been keeping a close eye on Gustav here, but every indication is that its headed towards Louisiana. But that doesnt mean my area wont get affects from it. We still may get some strong winds, lots of rain, and the potential for tornados. It was very close to a cat5 last night, but as I look at it this morning, its back down to a cat3. Still a very dangerous storm however.

I'm hoping it get's to a Cat 5 so we dont have school here in Austin on Tuesday, since our school is a refugee center for hurricanes, and that's a law that it's a center for 'em.

I also feel sorry that it probably will hit to a cat 5 and all the people....

Come on man, have some compassion. Is loosing hundreds, maybe even thousands of lives worth it just so you dont have to go to school?

I said it was more bitter than sweet, sweet is not goin' to school, but bitter is the fact that those people have to go to our school to escape death...

It would be sweet to miss school but id rather go to school then get my house damaged and homeless  :-/

Yeah, I meant to say that it's cool we're out of school, but the reason we are out of school is bad :S.


Hard to explain it without sounding asynic

Why do people continue to rebuild and live in the path of hurricanes? :-? Serious question here?  How many billions in damages and how many lives lost till someone says "Hey, living in the path of continuous natural disasters is kind of dumb!" I haved lived near the coast, and while I understand the serenity and beauty of it all, I don't think that the yearly horror that comes with it would be worth it. :-/

I wish your family the best. I just couldn't do it personally, but I guess to each their own.

the one strange and perhaps good thing, is this storm is incredibly unorganised. Just from the radar and sattelite, all the weather and storm activity is on the western side, which is unusual for a hurricane. If that stays that way then New Orleans could be spared quite nicely. Would be very windy, but little rain compaired to KAtrina.
