...mmm..they now have 10 kids and nowhere to live...hoping for government handouts. He "earns" $4 dollars a day for the one or two days he works and is hoping Allah will see them through........all because they wanted a SON.........irresponsible or what... ::)

Like the 70 year old Indian woman who had twins recently just to get a son. She had a boy and a girl which leaves her with a girl she doesn't want.....unbelievable....commoner :o

What is it with these people that they don't want girl babies? ::)

Probably has to do with carrying on the family name even though after a few generations the gene pool is so diluted it doesn't matter. Stupid pride really.

Aren't there quite a few cultures where this is the case?

Daughters have traditionally been an onus in most cultures partly because of the family name thing, but also because they are less fit for manual labor on the farm and also cost money- or cows or whatever- to marry off (dowry).
But there's not many communities for whom that matters anymore, so it's  just a leftover excuse to make women feel second-rate, I guess. ::)

As for this story: IMHO, that's not a family, it's a litter...  ;D... and how is it that a couple who already have kids and barely two coins to rub together can get fertility drugs, when this sort of multiple birth is the usual outcome?   :-?
