Like the 70 year old Indian woman who had twins recently just to get a son. She had a boy and a girl which leaves her with a girl she doesn't want.....unbelievable....commoner

Probably has to do with carrying on the family name even though after a few generations the gene pool is so diluted it doesn't matter. Stupid pride really.

Posted: Sun Aug 17, 2008 6:43 pmDaughters have traditionally been an onus in most cultures partly because of the family name thing, but also because they are less fit for manual labor on the farm and also cost money- or cows or whatever- to marry off (dowry).
But there's not many communities for whom that matters anymore, so it's just a leftover excuse to make women feel second-rate, I guess.
As for this story: IMHO, that's not a family, it's a litter... ;D... and how is it that a couple who already have kids and barely two coins to rub together can get fertility drugs, when this sort of multiple birth is the usual outcome? :-?
