Need some advice - RC Glider -

I am looking to get into model flying, and want to start with a glider... there are no flying clubs near where i will be flying so i will have to cross my fingers and hope i don't trash the plane on its virgin flight hahahaha but i guess if you take it nice and slow it should be ok... well i am looking to get this kit (seeing as it comes with every thing) they have said there is a little building involved but nothing to tricky.. what do you think of the kit? is there a better RTF kit out there? looking to spend no more than $250-$300

That doesn't look like a bad kit altogether, but you might think about a model that has ailerons though. There's nothing worse than finding yourself upside-down, not sure how you got that way, and not having ailerons for a quick correction, getting closer and closer to the ground, and forgetting that in that situation...up is down. (Maybe that was just me though ) Ah, there's nothing like the sobering sound of snapping balsa, to make you realize you should have waited for someone to act as an instructor for you!

Starting out is the hard part, because that's when the big purchases are made. The radio equipment in particular. Don't skimp in this area, and remember that the radio can be used in further aircraft as your skills improve, so purchasing more than you need now could prove usefull in the future.

R/C flying is a fantastic hobby, provided that you keep these two very important points in mind:

1) Crashing costs money.....
2) You WILL crash! It is almost inevitable.
(Don't be afraid of crashing though. after you have your radio, motors/engines, and batteries...the costs aren't that bad. Planes can be had relatively cheap.)

like groundbound said plane parts ar not that much it is the radios and motors that cost a lot. I've been thinking about buying a huge R/C Spitfire kit just to build as a model airplane.
