Earthquake Southern California

5.8 located 2miles south west of Chino Hills. Side to side motion and can be felt all the way to Las Vegas.

As far as i can tell no one was hurt but there is some structural damage. :-/

USGS dropped it down to a 5.4.


On the map there seems to be a cluster of 27+ after shocks around the epicenter. Largest after shock was a 3.6.


The big one is coming. Going to bolt everything down now.

It's times like this that us who don't live near fault lines or quake zones realise how lucky we are..

Wow, heard about it this morning, I was only in San Diego 2 days ago!

You just missed it. The experience of an earthquake of this magnitude is something to remember. I lived through the 1994 Northridge earthquake which was a 6.7 but I was too young to remember it. This is my first large earthquake that I can remember.

Had an earthquake about four miles from my house yesterday, also. Only a 2.1 but it was something.

I'm stationed in San Francisco, and didnt feel a thing, however I was home here in Napa Valley when it happened, but reports from the boys at work are the same, nothing was felt, so no worries for the Frisco area.

I was stationed in San Diego for a while and we had a couple of 5.2-5.6 quakes hit us and it's quite a ride.

I have spent the past 10+ years tracking along the various Californian fault zones in my various Flight Sims, which has vastly increased my knowledge of the State!

It is fascinating to observe the Mountainous Fault Zone terrain below me, and compare it with my relief maps of California... :)...!

It is certainly a very volatile area... :o...!

Yea, up until 2 years ago, I lived in San Diego my whole life. Talked to my parents who are still there... they said they felt it, but it wasnt a big deal there. Funny... I move from a place where there are fires, floods, mudslides, earthquakes and such... to a place where hurricanes come in. Luckily there hasnt been any since I moved here.

If you've never experienced an earthquake.... its very interesting. Most of them arent anything to even worry about. Kinda like on the movie Independence Day, the "It wasnt even a 4 pointer, go back to bed" quote..... its very true! The San Fran and Northridge quakes... thats a different story!

I heard on the news about 2 or 3 days after this Earthquake they are predicting a Big Earthquake soon...

Makes me sort-of nervous, just dont want my home to fall down or the Golden Gate either..
