I'd recommend a PS2 instead... it is also old, but there are much more and better games.... ;)

But you can also have a lot of fun with the Gamecube... There's True Crime, and the classic Smash Bros. as well as Resident Evil.. excellent games for me :)

If you were ever a fan of the Metroid series, get the Gamecube and Metroid Prime.  You will not be disappointed.  It is one of the best games that I have EVER played.  Very involved, with a great storyline.  Better than Halo in the storyline, but with no multiplayer.

Most of the other games (besides Smash Brothers) are crap.  There are a few gems, such as Zelda: Windwaker, but for the most part, Metroid is where it's at.  You could spend months playing this game and still have things to do.

PS2 and PS1 are okay, but if you're looking for just single-player entertainment, Gamecube is where it's at.

Hehe Paul. I've got the original 177-78 heavy-sixer. In fact I have two. ;D Strange, I have Star Voyager and Star Raiders, but no Stargate. I've even recently picked up some new still sealed in the box cartridges recently that were found in an old store.
Someone has some Atari a130XE systems on eBay, about 20 he reckons. They were found still packed in their original shipping boxes, three per box, complete with everything they came with new.

I'd suggest getting a ps2, I just find a better number of quality games on it. Plus it has the GTA series (which I LOVE), and then SOCOM, and Ace Combat (But how does an F-16 carry 50 missles and 25 cluster bombs?!).

Aerial Re-armant, there's nothing the air force cant do hahaha.

I'd have to agree with getting a playstation 2, you'll get more bang for your buck, TONS of games to buy and they're only $20 a pop.  Just remember to get a memory card too.

I bought a gamecube and it arrived today :)

It's great, I play it along with my 360 for all the retro nintendo exclusives. I love it ;)

I have a PS2. Works great, nothing wrong with it. With a Cube prepare for more cartoony games for the most part (I think). You can expect more realistic things form a PS2. Don't say the Cube is too old. I have the original NES in my room from my dad!  ;D It's great fun to play though. Mario... Still can't beat that game... ;D

Now The reason i recommend trying to get A Wii is simple. you'll have access to the entire Nintendo series of games. and if you have Gamecube games and controllers, they interface with the Wii. out of the 3 consoles, the Wii has the greatest versatility.

however if you have reasons for not getting a Wii, I would also recommend a PS2. just cause Crash Burnout is awesome :P
