OK, so was meant to be going out biking the other day...went to the garage to pick up my baby only to find she wasnt home! Someone had obviously slipped in and nicked it. Not just any bike either, with all the mods etc i've spent well over

Motor-bike or Push Bike?

I learned a similar lesson with my Jamis Diablo, for which I paid $700 almost fifteen years ago... even if it's inside, lock it up somehow!!  Unlike a TV or computer, it has wheels... loot and getaway vehicle all in one!

More than likely it's already been sold through word-of-mouth, and don't be surprised if you see someone on it in your neighborhood soon.

Nah its actually a push bike Fozzer! I have heard that motorbikes can be a nightmare too! One of my friends had his stolen from his garden also...the police did actually manage to recover it though BUT it was in an unridable state as it had been raced and crashed ... so instead of the police giving him the bike back they gave him a bill to get it disposed of! If it had a motor bike it would be kept in my garage under armed guard  ;D

Ouch, that must be a fair few pennies in todays money Rottydaddy! Yeh though, you are probably right ... though i don't think there is much demand for Downhill Mountain bikes in Bournemouth! If i do see it around though they are going to seriously regret it!

...the power/energy applied to the pedals is absorbed in the springs/suspension, and little is left to propel the bike forward... ...!!

The least energy-absorbing material between you and the rear wheel, the better......!

Nice for "shopping", but not so good for "mountain climbing"... ...!

With the "old" solid suspension, the pedal power and overall energy was applied directly to the rear wheel via the chain....and little power was lost in the process... ...!

It's a funny old do, but I'm sure I read somewhere that the snazzy suspension that is fitted to the front and rear of Push-Bikes nowadays reduces the power that the Cyclist applies to the rear wheel, with his peddling....

True Fozz, but Cobra's bike is built for going downhill as fast as possible, there's very little peddling involved. My bike on the other hand is designed for cross-country racing & as such has a hardtail & much steeper head & seat tube angles, you'll also notice that my forks have a lot less travel than Cobra's. Riding Cobra's bike cross country for any great distance would be extremely tiring & slow.

I have suspension, but only on the front wheel 8-)
Good solid frame/wheels/seat/chain/gears total cost: $270 8-)
But i had to 'soften up the suspension' 'cause it was VERY hard. offering not much give for my poor little arms
