Geocaching

Just stumbled upon this through a metacafe video. Its like a worldwide game of hide and go seek with GPS's  ;D.  I went out and found 4 in my area today and theres some cool stuff. One of the bigger boxes even included a gift card to a local ice cream shop. I had no idea this was going on, Ive even seen the locations before and thought nothing of them. Check it out and I bet you can even find one within a mile of your house.

So I'm sure there must be a few people on here who have done it. Any experiences or other things to say about it? I'm still new with it so my knowledge is limited.

I had never heard of it untill the other day when a couple Army buddies of mine were telling me that they were into it. Sounds interesting....

I've heard it started here in the pacific northwest.... :D

I did GeoCache at Center Parcs in March. Worst thing ever  ;)

It didnt know where it was going, so in the end we used the map... much more accurate and you can actually see where you are going,.

I have mixed feelings about it so far, part of me thinks its cool cause there are others out there who just want to use their GPS like me ::) :D Then I think the super small hidden ones in the city are pretty random and slightly stupid. But I'm interested in these large, long hike type caches, those would help me actually hike for a reason instead of until I am tired. (which is usually after a mile  :P )  Some of them have pretty cool prizes though.  Its still weird but kind of cool, at the same time, should that make any sense to you  :P

Had a quick look at the site and apparently there's one literally at the end of my road (on a cycle path). I went down with my GPS and spent 30 minutes searching a 15x15m area and didn't find anything......LIES I TELL YOU....ALL LIES!!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D

I've done this a few times...it's a good secondary use for the GPS I bought for the airplane. There are literally thousands of caches around, around here I could probably do 100 of them without going more than 5 miles from home.
