Fozzer, think of the saving;

No community charge, no electricity, water or gas bill, food payed for and well prepared, free phone, free internet, free further education, no road tax and cheaper drugs than on the street. Warders must call your Sir and the Human Rights Act watching for every foot the State puts wrong or does against you. I can't see any down side.

I have to agree. Prison have become a place to stay not a place to work of your time and endure grueling punishments.

ok I was in a provincial jail for 1 week and I wouldnt want to be in there any longer then that.. yes you do eat well... yes you do get to stay there for free, and dont really have to worry about anything, exept fighting orther ppl (who are basicly animals)... and what ever you have on the outside (house car etc)
but the punishing thing about it is they treat you like an animal.. the jailgaurds dont give a fuck what you do, unless its somthing against them personally, then ur in trouble... And its a complete trap.. They say your innosent untill proven guilty, but thats not true.. more like your guilty until you can prove your innoscent.. you can only make collect calls, and if your trying to get evidence to get you out, HA! good luck! unless you got yourself a real nice lawyer.. ohh and thats another thing..just applying for a lawyer takes several weeks, and once you have one, you can only really talk to him on the phone, and he has the responsibility to collect the evidence from the various sources, which is a lot more difficult for him then it would be for the accused to personally do.

it might not be so bad for larger charges.. im not sure, but if your sentence is short, and thers no one to bail you out.. your basicly trapped in there forever unless you want a criminal record, which I did not.. it was very hard for me to get out becasue both of my parents have passed on, and I have no living relitives, so a really good friend of mine got thier parents to post bail for me.

Over all it was a learning experience.. not good nor bad.. not somthing id want to repeat.. not when the outside world is sooo close, but your trapped by the burocratics.
