I agree. It makes me mad when someone can molest a child for years, and get only a few months in jail....

I'm surprised you brought this up considering the nature of the topic. Lets face it if the jail for muggers topic got locked, this stands no chance.
But see my response in that other topic and you'll see i'm in favor of tougher punishments for these crimes.

I think that they should first make prisons a whole lot more uncomfortable, and then lock those people up for life. I just think that living out your life in a cage is a worse fate than death. But sense that isn't going to happen, and whatever compels mollesters to mollest is not curable, then we really don't have a place for them in our society.

I'm against death penalty, even in cases like this... :-/

I know it is one of the most terrible crimes a man can fall into... but killing that man is not the only alternative...

I think this thread invites members to write controversial opinions... and it does not contribute in making SimV a friendly and a great place

The death penalty is the easy way out.  Hang them by their toenails for a few years.  See if people start thinking twice about being idiots...

This will discourage possible future molesters and rapists. This will give the system the boost it needs.

I am undecided on the death penalty, however i believe prision should be a worst experience, not a 3 star caged resort.

I'm for putting alcatraz style facilities back into use. you did the crime, you most certainly do the time.

in my eyes, it seems the crime will go up because government is backing down for "humane reasons" people will commit more crimes, essentially, so they can get a bed and 3 squares a day. (and cable TV, workout room, conjugal visits, etc...). Prisons are overcrowded as it is, and I believe this is the reason.

This thread will almost certainly get locked; it is not a cut-and-dried issue, as can be seen by the variety of opinions expressed already. I'd like to explain my point in more detail, but not here! I'm not taking anybody's side here; please bear that in mind.

It's inflammatory stuff and decidedly political in nature... the point of squashing "politics and religion" threads is not to discourage free thought or discussion of important topics (feel free to PM each other endlessly on this or any topic) , but to keep these forums from turning into a shouting match or a useless cesspool of knee-jerk manifestos.


 A prospective member perusing these forums should not be made to wonder if their participation should be based on their position on the death penalty for a given crime, or any crime.

THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL FORUM.

There are lots of political forums out there, and most are clique-dominated smugfests where Opinion A simply shouts down Opinion B; a  waste of time IMHO.

Browsing these forums should be more useful and educational than watching TV... we need to uphold a higher standard.

 In the end, that kind of posting really doesn't create more understanding or do a damn bit of good for anybody's cause- it just polarizes everybody.
You see it all the time on other boards, and we're seeing it develop here, yet again... because somebody (whose well-founded feelings are well-known here already) just had to slap a big red button.
