Well it is Friday night and yup the best thing on Hungarian TV is the contest for the next person to represent Hungary at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Most of these people have the musical talent of my buttocks after a large curry and the dancing skills of me after 9 pints of scrumpy, a bottle of wine and several large single malts!
Time to put on the ear-defenders and read a good book methinks as I'll never wrestle the God-box for the telly away from the girls :'( :'( :'(

LOL Exactly what I was thinking.

I love the auditions, but after that I could give two poops for the rest of the season.

Heck, I have DirectTV and something like 300 channels. All the channels are running reruns and there is never anything to watch. Even all the pay channels like HBO, Cinemax, StarZ, etc are running old movies that you can get on free TV or at the least on AMC for no additional cost over the basic satellite plan.

I just can't get excited over the Golf Channel, The Home Gardening Channel and the Rural Farm Channel. I can see all the cow crap I want by just driving around a bit....lmao.

I've asked DirectTV to remind me why I'm paying through the wazoo for the privilege of watching reruns. ::)

Mentioning TV and hate, Ozzy, you haven't found an odd number of carnations on your set, have you?
I also heard that Budapest has holes down below that are too big for their buts --oops, I mean for their bus... I mean their holes are caves too big for buses...
there goes my bid for a History Channel announcer.
:P :-X

8-)

Foz could give you plenty of reasons to hate TV!
Most of it is trash, but there are some good things on there. The sports nature and news channels are the best. ;)

While I agree about the reruns, head on over to Turner Classic Movies (TCM). They're running 31 Days of Oscar right now, uncut and uninterrupted: http://www.tcm.com/index.jsp

2001: A Space Odessy was on last night. I've looked ahead on the menu and Apocalypse Now is on late tonight followed by Midnight Express. Not that I'll be up that late!

Considering American idol was the creation of Simon cowell who is british and took the idea from pop idol which I believe was the first incarnation of the show, I'd say American idol is just another in a long boring and pointless run of crappy shows. Wasn't it the dutch who started this reality crap with the first big brother?

As for Eurovision, it's that time of year again? Always good for Terry wogans usual wit ;D How many years has he been doing it now?

I don't watch much tv, but with the big strike with the TV show writers going on, it seems that most of what's on is reality tv shows... ::)

Reality TV is just a cheap way of filling a time slot. I don't mind old movies, sometimes TCM will have a classic like The Hill on and I can enjoy that.
I just long for the days of intelligent comedy I think. Thank goodness my best friend Steve got me all the Yes Minister/Prime Ministers as a gift. He always gets me some good viewing whenever he comes over as a pressie in return for me filling him with good Hungarian wines ;D A very good arrangement for both of us 8-)
I've just found my old Jasper Carrott tapes so I'll be listening to those a little later 8-)

As I've always said, the goggle box in the corner comes with an On/Off switch.  Nobody forces you to watch it. :P

I know Doug but I couldn't get the girls to switch the wretched thing off last night. For some reason they find this sort of thing incredibly funny. I think they just enjoy people trying to sing in English who've clearly never learned the language and then watching me squirm :P
