Not everyone has a fire extinguisher. A fire blanket would have been more useful in this case. The fire service would prefer you to get everyone out quickly & leave them to fight the fire.*

*Good advice but the house might burn down before they arrive.

I can't imagine why people wouldn't have a fire extinguisher, or a fire blanket....

Have you ever used one of those little kitchen fire extinguishers? It's like peeing on a bon fire, but at least after it's empty you can use it to smash a window and get out. ::)

Yes I have. I was using a riding lawnmower once when the engine burst into flames, and one of those household fire extinguishers put the fire out without any problems.

Or like me Doug you could be in a naughtier position; have one and not know where you put it! When the fire service man came round to inspect all the extinguishers and that in our flat he asked where the fire blanket was. I told him I had no idea. Not long after I found it by chance, but still haven't put it up. :o
