Hello....

First... I hope this is the correct area for this post...

Hello Gary, and let me be the first to welcome you to Simviation!

I know exactly what your talking about. I live VERY near to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, and a year or two back (I forget really) was some big Ford event. I heard the same kind of older piston engine sounds outside, I went out to see, and there were 4 Ford Tri-motors one after another, on thier way to a show. Even though I'm too young to have witnessed thier actual commercial use, I still got the "warm-fuzzies". I love radials!

Not sure if it should be in the Lounge, Real Aviation, history, or one of the flight Simulator forums... so here it stays.

Hi Gary and welcome to SimV. We are a varied and friendly bunch ranging from children to, well Fozzer (a we know about his age is, well the old one, he was about when Pontius was a Pilot). From that spectrum you can get just about any answer to any question here......and many comments and diversions to your questions too

Speaking of plane spotting:

In the '50's here in Miami we used to have a serious mosquito problem, so the health dept would get out and spray sometimes from low flying planes, one of which was a silver B-25.  Treetop level, thunderous roar, flying right over your house in the am.  What a sight.  That same plane took up residence for many years here at the old Tamiami Airport, which is now Florida International University campus.  We would see it all the time when passing, but somehow, it never occured to us to take a closer look.  It's been gone for many years now, I've always wondered what happened to it.

And yeah, an occasional DC-3 overhead, but none recently.

And I coulda swore I saw a T-33 way up sometime ago, but can't be sure.  Homestead AFB is just down south of me.
