Get ready for Easter Everyone!!!!

Postby legoalex2000 » Mon Nov 19, 2007 7:44 pm

Anyone else noticed how stores are pushing holidays earlier and earlier. it was October 15th, and there was Christmas stuff already in the seasonal department. as soon as new years rolls around, valentines stuff gets put up.

I can understand early, but going 2 1/2 to 3 months is starting to push it.

now since Easter is only about 5 months away, i figured I'd better start painting the eggs now to be ready.

*rant over*

It's all about inflation. The middle class is about to disappear. Just look at the gas prices. :o

A lot of it is holiday sales are predicted to drop pretty drastically this year thanks to a slow economy that doesn't look to improve.  And fuel costs...at $3.11 a gallon and climbing some of us pretty much decide whether to go to work or have food to eat.  With colder weather moving in natural gas costs take every spare dime just to keep the house halfway warm.

Basically store owners feel the earlier they put stuff out the more people will buy over that time.  But if no one has any money then they wont buy it no matter how early its put out :P  A store here in town is already set up for Christmas, New Years, Valentines Day, Easter and who knows how many other holidays :o

Everything goes up in price but wages barely move.  They raised the minimum by a whole 75 cents and wont go up any more for awhile.  A gallon of gas has been known to jump that much in a day :-/

I find this incredibly ridiculous. I understand they want sell stuff but I think they can at least wait till after Thanksgiving (US Holiday) to start with the ads. The Christmas music on the radio can be put off till after Thanksgiving as well. If this trend keeps going, we'll be buying Christmas gifts in the middle of July.  ::)

Goodmorning all... :)

Yes our holidays have all become too commercialized too early and that takes the fun out of the holiday.

Are you guys kidding! I love this, I already have a second Christmas tree up for next year! I just bought another bottle of champagne for next new years, and I have my Halloween costume for 2009 ready to go. Now if you don't mind, I have to leave for summer vacation 2010 in about five minutes. ::)

Note: the above was extreme sarcasm. ;)

i remember when in primary school we painted eggs for easter (then after 3-5 days, we could take them home... lets just say the school walls smelt a little bit rotten the next morning  ;D. aye we were rebels)

its not too bad an idea though, making crimbo early... if you are the first to be christmasy then people are likely to go to your store (as some people do early christmas shopping)

though, i think the christmas season is in the last fortnight or so, when the tree is out and ready... cant wait  ;D

-wasnt there a program on TV- i think Richard & Judy where they got these singers to sing an anti-early-christmas carol in London?

Ever hear of a flick called "The Nightmare before Christmas"? Rumor has it, Tim Burton got the idea for the movie while roaming through a local store that had both Halloween and Christmas stuff out at once. Just goes to show ya, make a movie called "The Nightmare gas prices before Thanksgiving-Christmas-New Years-Easter-eve" and you could make millions!

........mmm.........being a Yorkshireman and always on the lookout for a bargain I got all my Christmassy stuff in the January sales which incidentally started on Boxing Day (26 DECEMBER) last year.

All the shops are just itching to dump their excess stock real cheap........so just 364 days early!

Is that a record........commoner ;D ;D ;D
