And cracking code once more. Colossus is up and running for the first time since WWII and doing what it does best, breaking radio messages from Germany 8-)

Just picked the news up on my Radio....

FANTASTIC... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]...!

Reminds me of my garden Shed....which is also full of thermionic valves, and various Radio, etc, bits and pieces, and components from "Centuries" in my past....
...all obsolete now... :'(...!
...distant happy memories... ::)...!
I spent most of my early life in my garden shed designing and building electronic "stuff"....
...still got it all... ;)...!

...(Except for the "Stuff" that the Sheep has eaten!)... :'(...!

F.... 8-)...!

My early experiments with Radio Transmitters were the bain of my Radio/Television user neighbours.. :o...!

I had a guided tour of Bletchley Park a couple of years ago. A very interesting place in a beautiful setting. I can recommend it. We saw the new replica Colossus being built but I didn't realise at the time that it would be fully functional.

Goodmorning all... :)

Interesting to say the least, how many time have we destroyed our creations in the hope they don't fall into the wrong hands?

I am thinking of the Avro Arrow for one as this is an aviation forum, all that technology went to NASA as it is called now through former employees of A.V.Roe.

I wonder, has the powers to be thought of getting rid of the creators as well as the creation...I wonder?  :o   ::)

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Interesting indeed. I wonder how effective destroying these amazing inventions actually is. I've always believed that it's impossible to uninvent something. Unfortunately being classified as Top Secret meant that the people responsible for them never got full credit for their work. As so often happens in this country Thomas Flowers had to do the initial work on Colossus without official backing, even funding the project himself. (Similar story to Frank Whittle among many others.) After the war he was awarded an MBE &
