A Little Taste Of Winter.....Brrrrrr

Its official...We have had our first snow of the season.  My girlfriend and I were out on horseback this evening, going around a country mile, completely forgetting that with the DST change its now pitch black at 6:15 PM :-[  Taking a 2 horses through a dark field with only a couple flashlights isn't fun :-/ Almost back to my friends place where our makeshift stables are, about 7 PM...suddenly it began to spit a little bit of snow instead of the usual rain.  Next thing we knew it looked like a blizzard it was coming down so hard :o  Lasted about 5 minutes then completely quit...but its still the fact it was SNOW :o  Personally I wouldn't mind if the snow would hold off a little longer.  But tomorrow into Wednesday we are expecting to get snow showers, some mixed with rain or ice :-[  Ground isn't cold enough for it to stick but we could do without it anyways.  Also have 3 days with highs only in the lower to mid 40's :-/

They say its going to be a bad winter, which cold wise it was bad last year.  But the white stuff...other then about one good snowfall a year we really have made it out easy since the blizzard of 98 where I had a 4.5 week Christmas vacation from school instead of the 1.5 week planned ;D

They say this year could be worse then 98.  Predicting temps to be a little above normal but lots of extra moisture to fuel snow storms.  But unlike 98 I no longer get to enjoy those extra days off school :'(  Instead its enjoy the roads every morning and night and hope to make it to and from work :(

Winter...love it...yet hate every bit of it [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

I've said my "little" bit about the time scheduling in the Pilot's Lounge.
I get what you're saying...We're expecting snow showers here on Wednesday...And I'm further north than you...
An area between the 45th and 46th latitudes is not far enough further north of between the 43rd and 44th latitudes to elate me. My truck is still not properly repaired to pass inspection: I don't relish working on it in the snow -- or slush.

We're in the middle of a heatwave right now so I'm making the most of it. What they call an Indian Summer. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I enjoy looking at the pretty pictures. I never said I read it.  :P :-*

Washington Post, and New York Times enthusiast... :-*...!

They could be mighty fine examples of their ilk for all I know but do they have a picture of weather conditions in my part of the world on the front page? I think not. :D

My trusty Weather Station in my back Garden reliably informs me of current Weather conditions at the time of peering in it.

If its wet, there is a pretty good chance that it has rained recently.

If there is an egg in it, Mrs. Clara the Hen knows that its my Breakfast Time again.

Newspaper Weather Forecasts?....Bah... >:(...!

I wasn't talking about weather forecasts. :P

Those photos in the Sun article I linked to show weather that's already happened. What it was like here on the Sunny South Coast yesterday for the benefit of my good friends at Simviation. 8-) ;)

Nice photos in the Sun link Doug, but I wouldn't be in the sea when it's 63* F  :o  :o

If it was that temperature in July the beaches would be deserted.... ;)

Over here we use the weather rock. The town to the west has one displayed on the east city limit. ;D

How to read a weather rock:
A dry rock means fair weather.
A wet rock means it's raining.
A dusty rock means a dust storm.
A swaying rock means it's windy.
A shadow under the rock means it's sunny.
A white rock means it's snowing.
If the rock is jumping up and down, an
earthquake is upon us.
If the bottom of the rock is under water it's a
flood.
