In about one or two months I'm going to have my own website, and I want to know if it's legal to ask for donations,
if there are any important things I should or must write down below a Donate-button ?

Rev

PS: Cronically not enough money!  ;)

A fantastic idea... :)...!

There's a Bloke in South Africa who is quite successful in obtainably donations from members of the Internet Fraternity...

..they just supply all their Bank details to the recipient, and it works a treat...

Keeps the Site up and going with no problems...

..apparently... ;)...!

F...how much would you like?.... GB Pounds, or US Dollars?... :)...!

...LOL...Sorry Rev!.... ;D...!

Hi Rev,

I think it depends a bit on what you want to do with your website. If you draw a lot of visitors to the site, like this one thus using a lot of bandwidth, I think it is fair to ask for a (small) donation to keep things going. If it is just a homepage, about yourself for example, I think it's not done.  I don't know about the local laws in your country so you better check with a lawyer or your local chamber of commerce.

Crash ;)

There's no law against asking for donations, nor accepting them. Where you fall foul of the law is when you offer something for money that you can't fulfil.
Charlottesmum regularly asks for "contributions" on her EZBoard to stop pop-up ads etc, and as she runs a very happy forum/board a few members donate a few dollars/pounds every 6 months or so.

Thank you for the info,
the page will not be a blog or personal page, it will be for my future 787 ;), further projects like FullSplash (soon finished!),
and about plastic-model-building.
Anyway I'd just like to make the page financiate itself! :D  8-)

best and thank you for your advice,
rev

Is your site to be in both Deutsch and English script?
If so...

"Finance" becomes a transitive verb without alteration. ;)

Well, I thought of making it only in English, for German I'll maybe make a poll and see how many vote for a German version....
I don't think there'll be as many people who can't speak English than who can! :D :D

Why I really want some donated money? Look here in post #21 , then you'll know it! 8-) 8-)
