"Terry Daidone, the founder of Certicell contacted me this morning, and offered to make a trade for the iPhone. I traded it for a sweet Nissan 350Z and 3 8GB iPhones." .................Seems like he has undersold himself here a little if this guy is willing to buy him a sports car for his "idea" and offer it over the phone.

Whist I do not want to bring back the nocd hack debate, MS state using it is a form of piracy as it bypasses the protection software. iPhones installed a bit of software in this phone so it could only be used in a certain way. Can someone explain what the difference here is. Taking someones product and removing part of it (software) to enable it to work outside of the area it was designed for and then making money from it. I am slightly confused.

He certainly seems to lack an entrepreneurial streak doesn't he. I expect with the right support he could be minted, but instead he's opened his mouth and babbled to the world, although that said, he's made sure he has the notoriety of being the first. :) He may have been better going to apple and telling them first: they may have given him a job. All he's done now, by publishing the mod, is p*ss them off.

Through a loop hole in the laws regulating personal wireless devices... Its perfectly legal in the United States to modify your personal wireless device to work with other carriers. even the iPhone.

I have heard several carriers initially didn't even want to offer the iPhone to their customers, and that in the end apple could only strike a deal with AT&T.

oh well, it was only a matter of time before someone hacked it anyway. as an iPhone user and AT&T customer it doesn't bother me one bit... and as far as im aware neither Apple nor AT&T have even batted an eye lash at this occurrence.

So far i really like the iPhone, it's touch screen keyboard makes text messaging, internet navigation and e-mail a breeze. 8 gigs of onboard storage capacity with the built in camera means i can take about as many photos as i care to, or upload almost as many songs to it as i want.

I also really like the map screen with the google earth overlay. Many times i have been stuck in Dallas traffic because of a wreck after a long work week and im wondering what the best alternate route to my home 100 miles away would be - then i realize i left our travel map in the wife's car. DOH. but with iPhone i have all of that information in a matter of seconds. its really nice.

Also when i would go on trips  its nice to have internet access to be able to tell where the best places to eat within walking distance in an unfamiliar town are located. For this i used to have to take a lap top... if I have to go through airline security i would have to remove my lap top from my bag, open its case, take it out and send it through the screening machine. A lot of hassle to go thru just to have internet access at the overnights. But with iPhone its easy now and so compact.

tons of features, forthe type of lifestyle i lead (frequently away from home, lots of text messaging, the need for internet in the strangest places or situations at odd hours) I cant see myself using any other phone.
